BLACK AND BLUE by Samuel Harps, a timely new teleplay from award-winning playwright and filmmaker Samuel Harps. Featuring performances by Maiysha Jones Reilly and Dameon Reilly “With the state of the country at present,” Harps says, “there was no shortage of conflicts to explore. I chose to focus on the turmoil of an African-American veteran police officer…in the midst of a riot during a pandemic. The piece actually wrote itself.” No stranger to the Irvington stage, Samuel Harps was a member of the playwrights program at the prestigious Negro Ensemble Company. His productions have been featured in New York at the Paul Robeson Theater, National Black Theater, and Billie Holiday Theater, to name a few. Harps also serves as the Artistic Director for Shades Repertory Theater in Garnerville. Our Arts Incubator Series invites you into the creative process by showcasing works-in-progress! Like all of our virtual programming, it’s designed to keep us creative and connected while we can’t be together.
